The meter CAN be reset without this button.
Using the 3-button interface ont the meter you can reset the TOTAL just the same, but it requires many button presses and navigating through the menus on the meter's display. The addition of this button allows for a simple one-touch reset.
Resetting the TOTAL also clears and "partial pulse volumes" that have been tallied since the last pulse.
If you have the meter set to pulse every 1 gallon, and 1.5 gallons have passed, the meter will pulse again in 0.5 gallons. Resetting the TOTAL will also clear the latent 0.5 gallons making the next pulse become a full gallon away.
Intallation is easy.
The button simply installs between the cord going to the meter and the meter itself. A simple patch cord with a button with male x female M12 connectors.
