1. Login to your online portal
The report we will use for this can only be found using the Next Century Website Portal, not the phone app.
Once logged in, open up your property and navigate to the “Reports” tab. The report we will be looking at is “Usage”.
The usage report will default to the last 30 days, we want to change that to match the date range of the water bill like below
Water bill:
Report:
We’re going to be looking at the “Meter Usage” column:
2. Open the Water Bill Splitter Tool on Flows.com
Navigate to the Water Bill Spitter where we will input the numbers from our Next Century report into the calculator.
Going down the list, we will input each meter usage so our calculator looks like this:
Under the “Main” meter section of the calculator, put the total amount of water used according to the water bill and the dollar amount of the bill.
Total amount of water used was 25,600 gallons, total amount collected by the submeters according to the Next Century report was 25,828 gallons.
That is less than a 1% difference, so we can use the “% of all submeters” method of calculation to split the water bill. The calculator takes the percentage of the total amount of water used and assigned the dollar amount based off that. So because Unit 3 used 80% of the water, they will pay for 80% of the bill.
3. Splitting the Bill
There are other methods to split the water bill up besides what we discussed today, like using a rate based off what the water company charges. (ie: $10 per 1,000 gallons, Unit 1 used 1,239 gallons so they pay $12.39)
It’s important to keep in mind that the Water Bill Splitter on Flows.com is simply an aid for calculating how to split a water bill into individual bills for each submeter. Flows.com assumes no responsibility for the improper implementation of it. It is the sole responsibility of property owners to abide by all governing laws and correctly calculate any bills.
