Selecting A Wireless or Remote Water Sub-metering System
Next Century Wireless Sub-metering Systems
The Next Century Wireless Sub-metering Systems are the most advanced systems that we offer. They Ship pre-programmed according to the instructions that you provide. All transceivers are clearly labeled to match the name given to them in the web/app based interface.
There are 2 different gateways to choose from with the main difference being the number of meters they can monitor. Both can connect to the cloud using Wifi, Ethernet, or cellular connections.
No-Wire Sub-metering Systems from Submeter Solutions
The NoWire RRS Systems are another great option for smaller buildings with 36 meters or fewer to be monitored.
There are 2 different gateways to choose from: Both can monitor 4 meters hard-wired to the gateway and one can also monitor up to 32 wireless meters. Both can connect to the cloud using Wifi, Ethernet, or cellular connections.
WaterTracker Systems
This system handles up to 3 meters via wireless transmitters connected to the meters. The monitor provides an interface to view data locally, and that data can also be downloaded via USB cable to use in a spreadsheet on a PC.
Z-wave Compatible Meter Transmitters
These transmitters allow you to connect any meter with a pulse output to your Z-wave hub. We recommend and sell the Samsung SmartThings hub. A simple solution for those who already have a Z-wave system in their property and those who want to add one. Data reported by the meters can be viewed using a mobile app.
A Leak Detector and Freeze Warning Transceiver is also available.
Wired Remote Sub-metering Displays
For those more comfortable with wired solutions, Flows.com offers the MULTI-KAL-BOX which can house and protect up to 10 of our KAL-D06 digital displays. These displays can be resettable, non-resettable, or you could pair 2 displays per meter having only one be resettable.
Flows.com wants to make it easy for anyone to select the best sub-metering system regardless of their experience. Below we have briefly described the different systems that we offer to help guide you to a system that will work for you. If you require assistance in selecting a system, you can call us at 855-871-6091 and we would be glad to help you.
When selecting a remote water sub-metering system there are many factors to consider:
How many meters will be monitored and/or needed?
All sub-metering systems have a limit on the number of meters that they can monitor. These limits are listed below in the descriptions of each system that we offer.
Do the meters already exist? or will they need to be purchased and installed?
- If they are already installed, they must have a contact closure "pulse output"
This is a 2-wire cable coming from the meter. Contact Flows.com for help determining if your meter(s) have what's needed.
- If they will be purchased, what meter style, body material, and line sizes are needed?
Flows.com offers water meters to fit any sub-metering application. These meters can be selected as "Accessories" when purchasing the sub-metering system - Contact us if you need assistance selecting the best water meter(s).
Do you want a wireless system? or is hard-wiring the meters to the central device OK?
These days, almost everything is going wireless, however, we understand that many people would rather go "old-school" and have the meters directly wired to the main unit - especially when all of the meters are in the same room.
Do you want web based or mobile app access to the data collected by the system?
There are systems that connect with the internet (or cloud) in order to record and allow access to all of the data reported by the meters. There are also a few that simply record it themselves for local viewing only.
